At Campbelltown Community Children's Centre Pre-school we aim to provide a safe and caring collaborative learning environment.
We believe this happens when we:
- Plan and develop a learning programme responsive to the individual and group needs of the children.
- Are flexible, listen to children and respond accordingly.
- Are inclusive in our practices.
- Follow social justice and equity principles.
- Assist children to develop skills necessary for contributing as a group member.
- Work with families, childcare staff and other agencies to provide what is best for the child.
- Provide transition programmes for children.
We are a DECS pre-school line managed by the East Torrens Primary School working in partnership with the Campbelltown Community Children's Centre.
The curriculum is guided by the South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability Framework to promote the development of Essential Learnings, life skills and competencies.
East Torrens Primary School is located 1 kilometre east of the centre and is responsible for the curriculum leadership, personnel management, student learning and budget at our pre-school.
OUR PROGRAMMES
The Pre-school programme is planned to provide our children with interesting and challenging learning experiences. We develop activities based on our understanding of what 4-5 year old children can do, and are designed to meet individual needs. If specific support is required we refer parents to appropriate services. Our programme encompasses activities that develop both gross and fine motor skills, socialising, learning to co-operate in a group environment, listening skills and experiences to develop basic literacy.
ENROLMENTS
Children are entitled to only 4 terms of pre-school from the age of 4 years before they begin school. There are four sessions per week.
The entry date and the name of the school you expect your child to attend must be indicated on your child's enrolment form.
Children may receive one session of pre-entry in the term preceding their enrolment to pre-school
SUPPORT SERVICES
A number of support services are available through our pre-school. These include the services of speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers and bilingual assistants. Please contact the Centre if you need more information about these services and how to access them.
HEALTH CHECKS AND DENTAL CARE
Children will have the opportunity to have a health screening during their pre-school year. This is carried out by Child and Youth Health Services and arranged with you prior to your child starting school.
Children in South Australia are eligible for free dental care through the South Australian Dental Service.
