The Possum room (0-15 months) caters for approximately 10 children per day, with two qualified permanent staff members and a staff person to cover all breaks. The Possum room has a large open space for babies to explore and investigate that is safe, secure and most importantly fun. We believe children learn through play and strive to engage them in stimulating activities and experiences that challenge and enhance their skills.
We program using the Early Years Learning Framework National Curriculum (EYLF) and rotate our program monthly. Having a monthly program enables us to use lots of repetition which is important when introducing new and exciting play experiences to babies. We strongly support the Primary Care system and work hard to build secure and trusting relationships with our babies and their families. We believe each child is an individual with different needs and abilities, therefore we cater to follow each child's individual routine.
The Possum room is bright and colourful with plenty of pictures, photos, hangings and artwork for babies to engage in. We provide cosy corners with soft furnishings for quiet play and for those who seek out adventure we have climbing equipment designed especially for babies.
The Possum room is set up with a separate sleep room that consists of 9 cots. Each child is delegated their own cot that we endeavour to put them in each time they sleep. We follow the SIDS guidelines when putting babies to sleep to help ensure their safety and wellbeing. There are always lots of questions to be answered so please come in, have a look and have a chat.
