Explorers room – Aged 15 months to 2.5 years
The Explorers room (15 months – 2.5 years) caters for children making the transition from the Discoverers room. There are 2 permanent qualified and a Certificate 3 educator in the Explorers room, who have worked at the centre for many years. We also have two permanent educators who assist with our room, providing continuity for the children.
The Explorers room provides an atmosphere which allows the children to feel safe and secure in their environment at all times. We encourage all children to create strong bonds with their “primary carers” and other children, whilst still encouraging them to become independent and confident.
The Explorers room has a bright and cheerful setting, providing a large area for indoor play, with displays of all the children’s artwork and also allocated areas for the children to engage in some “quiet time” if and when desired.
The room converts into a quiet sleep area after lunchtime. All the children enjoy the independence of having their own stretcher beds that are available for them to get into by themselves.
The outdoor area provides a wonderful setting with green lawn and native trees. A verandah and pergola provides shaded areas. These are set up to engage children in developmental experiences, e.g. sandpit, ride-on toys, waterplay, climbing equipment, etc.
