Blue Gum zone – Aged 3.5 years to school age
The Blue Gum zone is the largest in the Centre and it caters to meet the needs of children aged 3.5 to school age. It is staffed by five dedicated, trained and highly experienced educators, including a full-time teacher.
The zone is appropriately divided into areas to encourage small group experiences. The program follows the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and promotes the children’s Learning Stories. The program is based on children’s interests that reflects values important in development such as positive self-esteem; choice; respect for others and equipment; appropriate language; sharing; turn-taking and opportunities for concentration.
The indoor program includes the use of a Smart Board during group times which provides opportunities to incorporate the Jolly Phonics program into their daily learning environment.
The outdoor program provides physical, social and exploratory opportunities. Children are able to explore our spacious outdoor area or engage in activities under our large covered verandah. This area has ceiling fans allowing it to be used all year round. The children have access to a vegetable garden, and they can feed chickens and collect eggs, giving them the opportunity to engage in environmental learning.
